Sunday January 3rd-We started out the new year with a lesson on "Drawing Closer to Jesus Christ." I thought this was the perfect lesson to start the New Year off with! What better goal can we have than to develop our relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ? During our lesson we talked about what it means to bear a true testimony of Jesus Christ. It was pointed out that we don't always need a story to go along with a testimony. A true testimony of Christ is something different than expressions of love for friends etc. I wanted the girls to recognize that when we are doing things that are right and are in a good setting that the spirit of Christ will enhance our feelings of love for our friends, family, leaders, etc. but that bearing a true testimony of Christ doesn't mean bearing a testimony of how much we love our friends and so forth. Then we listened and watched a compilation of testimonies from Prophets and Apostles so that we could hear what true testimonies of Christ sound and feel like. It was really wonderful and I think we all felt the Spirit's presence there. Afterwards some of the girls took the opportunity to bear their testimonies of Christ and I was amazed at how much they love their Savior and how they were able to bear witness of His love for them. Here is a link to what we watched if any of you would like to listen and share with your families. http://gallery.me.com/rymeng65#100144 It is well worth your time to watch!
Tuesday January 5th Activity- We had a GREAT time planning for the year! The girls had Fabulous ideas for activities that they want to do this year. I was truly impressed! We also gave the girls a letter and a worksheet on steps they can take to draw closer to their Savior Jesus Christ. We gave them until the 19th of January to complete if they choose to. If they bring it back signed by their parent(s) then they can earn a special treat. Of course the real reward is the results of making an effort to develop their relationship to Christ!
